PhishTank is a community ran website that alerts users to phishing websites. Phishing is defined as "is the act of tricking someone into giving them confidential information or tricking them into doing something that they normally wouldn’t do or shouldn’t do. For example: sending an e-mail to a user falsely claiming to be an established legitimate enterprise in an attempt to scam the user into surrendering private information that will be used for identity theft." PhishTank has also developed an extension for FireFox that will check each site you visit to see if it is a known phishing site. A more detailed description and a link to download follows. Although FireFox 2.0 already includes a phishing engine, PhishTank may include some not included in the FireFox database. (In addition, FireFox may include some phishing sites not included in the PhishTank database). This is why 2 sources are better than 1.
